Fremont County is home to the cities of Ashton, Big Springs, Box Canyon, Drummond, Island Park, Newdale, Parker, Saint Anthony, Teton, Warm River. Fremont County was established in 1893, and was named for the explorer John C. Fremont, an explorer known as the "Pathfinder" who passed through the area in 1843. The first settlement in the county was Egin Bench in 1879. The county had a population of 13,424 in 2010.
Shopping and Dining - Fremont county offers many choices for dining. The Town of Ashton has an old fashion drive in called The Frostop Drive-in. Where they serve old fashion hamburgers, fries, ice cream, and much more.
Parks and Recreation - Let your adventure begin in this well landscaped corner of Idaho where waterfalls and fun go hand in hand. Visit the beautiful mountains featuring high altitude lakes, natural springs and roaring rivers. There are many trails and low traffic roads perfect for biking all over the county. Fremont County Golf Course offers a beautiful 9-hole course with great Teton views. Island Park is a fisherman's paradise both in the summer and winter. Island Park, Idaho Fishing is some of the best in the country. You can float with guide services or stream fish, troll with your own boat or float tube. The famous Mesa Falls are 16 miles NE of Ashton and are worth the short drive. Fremont County is home of the world famous Henry's Lake and the Henry's Fork and other fishing and recreation waterways. Get your sand on at the St. Anthony Sand Dunes.
Living - Island Park is well known for it's fishing, hunting, water sports, and snowmobiling. The average snowfall is about 9 feet per year, which makes Island Park a winter wonderland. The current residents of Island Park consider themselves lucky to be a part of an area that is god's country. Living in Fremont county gives it's residents easy access to the great outdoors.
